GOMA Hydropower Plant is an aid project of Chinese government in the 80s of 20th century. The installed capacity was 4 X1MW. By more than 20-year's function, the aging of equipments made the efficiency reduced. In December of 2005, CNEEC took charge of the enhancement of this plant, after which the installed capacity could be raised to 4 X1.5MW.

GOMA Hydropower Plant is the only hydropower plant which is still running in Sierra Leone, charging with electric supply of two provinces in the southeast of Sierra Leone through a transmission line of 33kV.

The enhancement was completed in July, 2007. The President of Sierra Leone and the Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone appeared in the completion ceremony. In his speech, the Ambassador appreciated our careful work and our courage to conquer the difficulties, and he pointed out that this project is the testimony of the friendship between the two countries.
