The Zungeru Hydropower Plant is located on the middle and upper reaches of River Kaduna near Zungeru, Niger, Nigeria. With a total installed capacity of 700MW and four 175MW hydraulic turbines, it is the largest hydropower plant in Nigeria.
The owner of the project is the Federal Ministry of Power and Steel of Nigeria, and the CNEEC-SINOHYDRO joint venture is the general EPC contractor, where CNEEC is the leading partner. The total contract price is USD1.294 billion.
The Project, where the Export-Import Bank of China provides preferential export buyer’s credit, is the largest power plant financing project of the Africa in using the “concessional loans and preferential export buyer’s credit” of the Eximbank of China.
